Youth Programs
Habitat Helpers is an exciting program designed for youth 5-15 to serve Habitat of the Chesapeake in helping families in need to build simple decent, and affordable homes. Youth will have the opportunity to participate in a four step process of exploring, serving, reflecting, and celebrating. At the end of the process youth will become official Habitat Helpers and will be recognized through Habitat gifts and honored on our website. Take the first step of exploring and join the Habitat Helpers program by signing up for our next Youth Service Saturday . This fun Saturday program teaches youth all about Habitat of the Chesapeake and gives them a strong foundation for participating in the Habitat Helpers program by having them participate in small advocacy, fundraising, and hands-on projects. Youth Service Saturdays take place at the Habitat of the Chesapeake Office and are free with the suggested donation of a new hand tool such as a paint brush, paint roller, painters tape, permanent marker, tape measure, or Home Depot gift card. We welcome all youth to attend Youth Service Saturdays whether they are interested in being part of our Habitat Helpers program or not.

BSB Highlights
Able and Andy are carpenters and friends. Able (21) and Andy (19) are college students attending Middlebury College in Maine and Wesleyan University in Connecticut. This summer, the dynamic duo work in our warehouse building wooden tables and workbenches that will be sold in our Restore and as auction items at our fundraising events. Both are graduates of the Park School.
The Park School Habitat club is our premier sponsorship partner. The group has committed to complete ten houses by 2010. Park completed their eighth house in the spring of 2008. Upper schools students fill valuable leadership roles, educating younger students and members of the greater school community about issues surrounding poverty housing through fundraising and advocacy efforts. Park Schools students inspired BSB. For more information, visit: www.parkhabitat.com.
Woodbrook Baptist Church: Vacation Bible School (VBS) exemplifies the potential of the very young in service. As part of the Under Construction: VBS curriculum, the group of over 60 children, preschool through 5th grade, learned lessons of caring, sharing, growing, worshiping and celebrating through the mission of Habitat for Humanity. The children and their leaders wonderfully integrated the ministry of Habitat with the ministry of Woodbrook. The children constructed care boxes for homeowner families containing personalized handcrafted and useful keepsakes (bookends, toolboxes, key holders, scrapbooks…) Get your congregation involved.
