In-kind donations are donations of materials or expertise of a needed skill—a way of helping Chesapeake Habitat in your own special way, by offering particular items or skills to which you have access.  

We have a great need for in-kind donations, including construction materials, office furniture and supplies, warehouse materials, and help from many types of skilled laborers and subcontractors.  We also seek donations of items, gift certificates, or services to be auctioned at special events or to use for volunteer recognition.

Chesapeake Habitat for Humanity accepts in-kind donations of new, unused building materials. Only new materials, fixtures, and appliances are used in order to keep maintenance costs down for new homeowners, and to ensure that we are able to provide the the same items for each home. Chesapeake Habitat's goal is to provide simple, decent housing for those in need. For this reason, only basic bathrooms, kitchens, and appliances are provided.

Chesapeake Habitat is in great need of the items listed below. Here are several ways you can help:

  • Directly donate an item— You can purchase an item(s) from the supplier of your choice for delivery to Chesapeake Habitat
  • Donate services— You can coordinate with our staff to provide donated services on our houses - i.e. roofing, masonry, plumbing, etc.
  • Provide cash— You can help us purchase a specific item.

    When possible, we have included make, model numbers, or other identifying information to help our donors understand our needs as specifically as possible.

    Supplies

    • Painting supplies: brushes, rollers, etc. [$5-$500]
    Tools
    • Scaffolding & Step Ladders [$100-$500]
    • Yard/ Cleaning tools- shovels, brooms etc. [$20-$50]
    • Hand tools: tape measures, levels, squares, hammers, etc. [$5-$20]
    • Power tools, in good working order, e.g. cordless drills, circular saws [$20-$300]
    Equipment
    • Air Compressor- mid-sized [$200]
    • Van
      6+ passenger seats preferable, Needed to move volunteers & AmeriCorps between construction sites!
    • Portable PA System [$100]
    • Rolling stairs for warehouse
    • Pallet jack for warehouse
    Services
    • In-kind printing services
      For newsletters, postcards, etc.
    • Landscaper [$100-$1,500]
      We like to at least minimally landscape our new homes.
    • Skilled Contractors/Laborers
      Contact our Construction Project Director at 410-366-1250.
    Office Needs
    • Color Printer [$200-$1,000]
      A new or good condition used laser network capable printer for our office.
    • PowerPoint Projector
